Starting your journey into dancing is an exciting and wonderful experience that we are happy to share with you.

The welcoming staff at Dance DNA is committed to making sure that each dancer that waltzes through the door, finds a life long passion of dancing. You will feel empowered to start dancing at anytime, to any song, anywhere. Our goal is to create a more positive and uplifting place for dancers to feel like they truly found a home on the dance floor. Dancing is a beautiful endeavor that take patience, practice and time to master. This guide, along with your instructor is here to help you with your continuous success.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Preparing for your dance lessons

Proper attire is strongly enforced to provide the best learning environment.

Dresscode for kids

Pre-Ballroom
(4-6y.o.)
GIRLS - dance shoes, white or black bodysuit, hair in a neat bun away from the dancers face.
BOYS - black shorts, black or white plain T-shirt, black socks, dance shoes.
Latin / Standard
(7y.o +)
GIRLS - black bodysuit or top, black skirt for Latin and standard (depending on the level), Latin or Standard shoes (depending on the level), hair in a neat bun away from the dancer's face.
BOYS - dress pants, black T-shirt or shirt, Latin or Standard shoes (depending on the level).
Stretch & Strength for Dancers GIRLS & BOYS - indoor running shoes, sweat pants, tank top or T-shirt, hair in a ponytail for girls.

HAIR FOR ALL CLASSES: Hair must be firmly secured away from the face and up off the neck.

Dresscode for adults

We are a relaxed atmosphere. Please wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and gorgeous while dancing. The following articles of clothing are not permitted:

  • Clothing with inappropriate holes
  • Flip flops or shoes that are not secure to your foot
  • Cowboy Boots, Work Boots
  • Shoes with a Spiked heel

Business Casual attire is preferable for dance parties.

Dance Shoes

Investing in a pair of dance shoes will aid you on the floor. They prevent knee injuries and allow your feet to slide and create support for your foot. Dance DNA has many varieties and options for your dance wear. Please see your instructor for more details.

DANCEWEAR FOR SALE & RENT


We offer dancewear for sale and rent so that you can shine on the floor during the performances and feel comfortable in the training. Choose the shoes and clothes you need for dancing, and success will be inevitable!

  • Make sure that you are scheduled for your classes
  • To follow all studio policies and guidelines, includes the 24 hour cancellation policy

  • To try their best in every class
  • To try something new
  • To give yourself time to learn that something new
  • Don’t be hard on yourself when learning something new
  • Come to parties, and other studio events- squeeze fun into every moment
  • Communicate with your instructor

DanceDNA Policy

PAYMENT POLICY

We accept cash, personal cheques and VISA/MasterCard. Payment is due on the first day of a program, and is payable before the end of the first class. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned cheques. Administrative fees may apply to any changes in the account.

Group Class Payments:

We have the following options available for group class payments:

  • One-time payment for the full season from September to June. (If you choose this option a 10% discount* will be given). Payment by cheques or cash. No refund during the season. Cheques should be payable to Dance DNA.
  • Monthly payments plan by post dated cheques only, cheques should be payable to Dance DNA. No refund if month started. 10% off for siblings (for group classes, for second child only).

*You can use ONLY one discount per child, discounts can’t be combined. Late registration is accepted if there is space in a class. Fees will be prorated.

Group Class Attendance

We hope you won’t miss any classes but of course we realize that things can come up. Please don’t bring your child on class if he or she is sick. You can make up missed classes by asking your teacher, all missed classes should be taken within the same month, so there is no carry over to following month, year, or dance session. If there is less than 5 students in the class teacher can reduce lesson to 45 minutes instead of full hour. All the classes are weather permitted so in case of the bad weather conditions classes can be cancelled, please follow up us in Facebook for any short notices, no refunds and no make up classes will be available.

Private Lessons

Many students who attend Dance DNA take private lessons in addition to group lessons. If you are interested in booking a private lesson, please let us know. You have the option of paying per each class as you go, or purchasing a package of 10 lessons. Once you choose an option, you can choose the time of your lesson and continue to keep that time slot as long as needed. Please note that we can not guarantee the same time unless you choose a package option.

Private Lessons Cancellation Policy

Our cancellation policy for private lessons is 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. We realize that things can change at the last minute, but please try to cancel your lesson at least 24 hours in advance if you must to do so. If a lesson is for a couple, and one person is sick, we strongly recommend that the other partner still attend the lesson. If your lesson is cancelled within 24 hours you still will be charged.

COMMITMENT POLICY

The kids will be working on the show routines to perform at our Two Dance DNA Talent Shows, which are the Christmas Party and the Summer Party. If you choose to participate in the Show Performances, it will encourage students to attend the same class throughout the year, so that your child will be fully prepared and ready for the performance.

Important information:

NO Jewelry, and no Gum Chewing.
NO STREET SHOES & NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED IN THE DANCE BALLROOM.

  • It will be the teacher decision as to which students will participate in Competition, exams, etc.…
  • Students leaving money or valuables in the dressing rooms do so at their own risk. We suggest not bringing valuables to the studio, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • There is NO SMOKING anywhere in the studio.
  • There will be NO FOOD or drinks allowed in the dressing rooms. No gum chewing or peanut products allowed in the studio or in class.
  • Students must show respect to teachers and peers at all times.
  • Students must not vandalize dressing room areas or studios. Anyone caught will be responsible for damages.
  • Children who are not dancing may not be left unsupervised at the studio. Students should be picked up within 15 minutes from end of class time.
  • Students ONLY are allowed in ballrooms. Parents and friends are permitted common areas only.
  • All students must follow the dress code. If teacher finds grooming and dress inappropriate for class, they may be asked to leave.
  • It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure they are responsible in receiving all newsletters/emails and information given out at the studio.
